Still Fighting the Civil War

  • LAMARR MAYES, 64, from Fairmount, GA, holds his personal Confederate Battle Flag replica outside Dent Myers’ Civil War Surplus store, where regular visitors often meet to share their views on society with others who appreciate ways of the ‘Old South.’
  • Bill Williams, 64, of Acworth, Ga, is a regular visitor and customer to Dent Myers’ Civil War Surplus shop. Williams is a strong advocate for open carry firearms laws. He was on the watch for protesters who were expected later in the day.
  • A group of angry demonstrators gathered outside Dent Myers’ Civil War Relic and Antique Shop Friday to protest the 89-year-old owner’s obsession with what they see as a racist and bigoted past. Pictured: Dent Myers on top floor of building that houses his relic shop, keeping an eye on gathering protesters.
